In a fine example of just how dominant Maritime born and raised drivers have become in Canada, yesterday at Flamboro Downs in Ontario eight of twelve races were won by drivers hailing from this region. P.E.I’s Paul MacKenzie led the way on Thursday with three-winners on the card while fellow Island born teamsters Mark MacDonald and brother Anthony captured two-wins and a single win respectively. Canada’s leading reinsman, Jody Jamieson also had a pair of winners on the program. Jody was born in the province of Nova Scotia. One other note, Garret Whelan, son of Maritime product Jim Whelan also captured a heat on the program. In this week’s stats, Jamieson and MacKenzie rank in the top-three in wins in the nation with Jamieson leading the way.
