
![]() H.R.N.B Officially Takes Over OperationsLast Friday, the horse racing industry signed its first of three leases in the province that will help to secure a solid foundation for the rejuvenation of the struggling industry. It came as welcome news to all involved who were waiting for the lease in Saint John to be signed and thanks to the efforts of both groups, a reported five-year deal has been signed. Now, the future and growth of the industry is in the hands of the industry and its participants at all levels. There’s never been a more crucial time for the stakeholders to pull together as a team and start the rebuilding process. There is an aura of optimism that is hovering above the industry right now and its contagious. This lease signing now allows Horse Racing New Brunswick to be able to put its business model in place. As of March 1st, simulcast was being taken over by the group and it’s operators. Also on the weekend, the group held its first group of interviews for a number of positions. One of the immediate needs was to secure pari-mutuel staff for Saint John and Moncton. At the press release announcing the signing, H.R.N.B officials stated that there will be more information available and will be sent out to media outlets as information becomes available. Best of luck to the people of H.R.N.B as they take the next few days and weeks forging ahead with live racing returning to the Saint John track at a later date.
