
![]() Downey Stables, MacNeil Prepping YoungstersTwo more stables at E.P.R have been busy getting some hopeful two-year-olds through their early lessons including an Owner of the Year nominee for 2008, and the 2007 award winner. Downey Stables of Saint John, founded by the late New Brunswick racing pioneer Milton Downey continues to have his legacy live on through the breeding cycle. Head trainer Steve Mason has three freshman pacers in his stable this year. One to watch is the first foal of stakes winner Don’t Let Me Down by the high producing sire Mantorious. Nick Down is a son of Full Scholarship while Last Winn Down is a daughter of Largo. Meanwhile, Bob MacNeil and his partner John Lavric have two colts, one a half brother to the tough campaigner, Rapid Cane named Magical Alex. His other pacer is a son of Largo out of Miss Veil named Elm Grove Emerson.
